The missionary effort of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is based on the New Testament pattern of missionaries serving in pairs, teaching the gospel and baptizing believers in the name of Jesus Christ . Missionary work is voluntary, with most missionaries funding their own missions. They receive their assignment from Church headquarters and are sent only to countries where governments allow the Church to operate. In some parts of the world, missionaries are sent only to serve humanitarian or other specialized missions.
Offices And Quorums Of The Priesthood
Every holder of the priesthood is ordained to one or more priesthood offices. All priesthood holders have the same priesthood authority however, the authority to exercise certain powers of the priesthood are divided according to priesthood office. A person may hold more than one priesthood office in fact, once a person is ordained to a priesthood office, the person holds that priesthood office for as long as he holds the priesthood.
First Time The General Womens Meeting Was Held As Part Of Conference: October 2018
With the announcement made in October 2017, general priesthood session and general womens session began to be held annually in April and October respectively. The October 2018 general conference marked the first time a session for the women was held on the Saturday night of conference weekend instead of the week before.

SALT LAKE CITY Top leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints addressed COVID-19, the churchs support of non-discrimination laws, war in Ukraine and legacies of racism at the faiths first in-person conference since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.
The nearly 17 million-member faith, which is widely known as the Mormon church, is hosting about 13,000 people at its 21,000-seat Salt Lake City conference center over two sessions on Saturday. Though its signature conference regularly reached full capacity pre-pandemic, for two years, it has been held mostly remotely, with the majority of viewers watching livestreams from afar.
President Russell Nelson, the Latter-day Saints 97-year-old prophet, on Saturday told listeners gathered at the churchs Utah headquarters and those tuning in remotely that the troubles afflicting the world reaffirmed the need for faith and devotion.
Contention violates everything the Savior stood for and taught, he said.
The forward-looking perspective echoes prior remarks from church leaders, who have disavowed racism and expressed regret for past church positions, while stopping short of formally apologizing and avoiding opening up debate about church doctrines being reversed.
First Time The General Priesthood Session Was Added: October 1945
Though an evening meeting had been held as part of general conference since as early as 1942, following the end of World War II, it was officially published as the General Priesthood Meeting in the October 1945 conference report.
Elder Joseph Fielding Smith was the first speaker at that session and said,
It is my purpose tonight to plead with our brethren who hold the responsibility of conducting the priesthood for a better supervision of priesthood quorums. In a revelation give to the Prophet for the benefit of the first elders of this Church he said: thou shalt not idle away they time, neither shalt thou bury thy talent that it may not be known . Too many of those who hold the priesthood have idled away their time and have buried their talent. We would like to have a revival among all the quorums of the priesthood.

What Is The Position Of The Church Regarding Race Relations
The gospel of Jesus Christ is for everyone. The Book of Mormon states, Black and white, bond and free, male and female all are alike unto God . This is the Churchs official teaching.
People of all races have always been welcomed and baptized into the Church since its beginning. In fact, at the end of his life in 1844, Joseph Smith, the founding prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, opposed slavery. During this time some black males were ordained to the priesthood. At some point the Church stopped ordaining male members of African descent, although there were a few exceptions. It is not known precisely why, how or when this restriction began in the Church, but it has ended. Church leaders sought divine guidance regarding the issue and in 1978 extended the priesthood to all worthy male members. The Church immediately began ordaining members to priesthood offices wherever they attended throughout the world.
The Church unequivocally condemns racism, including any and all past racism by individuals both inside and outside the Church. In 2006, then Church president Gordon B. Hinckley declared that no man who makes disparaging remarks concerning those of another race can consider himself a true disciple of Christ. Nor can he consider himself to be in harmony with the teachings of the Church of Christ. Let us all recognize that each of us is a son or daughter of our Father in Heaven, who loves all of His children .

President Of The Church

Russell M. Nelson was born on September 9, 1924, in , to Floss Edna and Marion Clavar Nelson . He had two sisters, Marjory E. and Enid , and a brother, Robert H. . Because of the belief in the Book of Mormon among Joseph Smith’s followers, in the 1830s people outside the church began to refer to its members as “Mormonites” or “Mormons” and the church as the “Mormon Church”. What does this mean for disciples of Jesus Christ? Uchtdorf asked. It means that if we want to find balance in life, and if we want the Savior to lift us heavenward, then our commitment to him and his gospel cant be casual or occasional.
He then described the difference between sacrifice and consecration. These two are similar, he said, but not identical.
To sacrifice means to give something up in favor of something more valuable, Uchtdorf said. When we consecrate something, we dont leave it to be consumed on the altar. Rather, we put it to use in the Lords service. We dedicate it to him and his holy purposes. We receive the talents that the Lord has given us and strive to increase them, manifold, to become even more helpful in building the Lords kingdom. Very few of us will ever be asked to sacrifice our lives for the Savior. But we are all invited to consecrate our lives to him.
As members look at their lives and see a hundred things to do, they may feel overwhelmed, he said. When we see one thing loving and serving God and his children, in a hundred different ways then we can focus on those things with joy.

Christ knows everyones complete story and exactly what we suffer, as well as our capabilities and vulnerabilities, Wright said Sunday. He is the source of healing all that is broken in our lives. As the great mediator and advocate with the Father, Christ sanctifies and restores broken relationships most importantly our relationship with God.
Wright has spent many hours at a cancer treatment facility united in my suffering with many who were yearning to be healed. Some lived others did not, she said in her sermon. I learned in a profound way that deliverance from our trials is different for each of us, and therefore our focus should be less about the way in which we are delivered and more about the deliverer himself. Our emphasis should always be on Jesus Christ. Exercising faith in Christ means trusting not only in Gods will but also in his timing. For he knows exactly what we need and precisely when we need it.

Cosmology And Plan Of Salvation
The Mormon cosmology and plan of salvation include the doctrines of a pre-mortal life, an earthly mortal existence, three degrees of heaven, and exaltation.
According to these doctrines, every human spirit is a spiritual child of a Heavenly Father, and each has the potential to continue to learn, grow, and progress in the eternities, eventually achieving eternal life, which is to become one with God in the same way that Jesus Christ is one with the Father, thus allowing the children of God to become divine beings that is, gods themselves. This view on the doctrine of theosis is also referred to as becoming a “joint-heir with Christ”. The process by which this is accomplished is called exaltation, a doctrine which includes the reunification of the mortal family after the resurrection and the ability to have spirit children in the afterlife and inherit a portion of God’s kingdom. To obtain this state of godhood, the church teaches that one must have faith in Jesus Christ, repent of his or her sins, strive to keep the commandments faithfully, and participate in a sequence of ceremonial covenants called ordinances, which include baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, the endowment, and celestial marriage.
What Do Followers Believe
The church follows 13 articles of faith, the first of which states that members believe in God the Father, his son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. However, the church is non-Trinitarian: they are understood as three separate beings.
Salvation or individual exaltation requires repentance of ones own sins , baptism through immersion, confirmation and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, through the laying on of hands.
Members believe in three realms of existence: the premortal, mortal, and postmortal world. Souls move from the premortal, through mortal existence, into the spirit world, then to a resurrected state. Hence they live with God before and after their time on earth life is an intermediate stage of trial and improvement. The postmortal world is comprised of three kingdoms of glory: celestial, terrestrial, and telestial.
Exaltation, or eternal life, is salvation in the Celestial Kingdom. This is a doctrine of human theosis humans can become as God, if they choose to fulfil Gods plan.
Gods plan is seen as working through the family unit. Human beings, in marriage, partner with God to provide a mortal experience for Gods children. This is why members tend to have larger-than-average families.
The spirit world is believed to have a physical existence: families live together for ever there, so long as their relationships were sealed in the temple .
