History Of Interview Questions
A list of questions were first introduced in 1857 and used to qualify whether an individual could enter the Endowment House, before the first temple in Utah was built. They reflected the context of the times, including questions about branding an animal that you did not own and using another person’s irrigation water.
Since then, the temple recommend questions have changed significantly, though less so in recent years.
- In 1996, the first question about a belief in God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost was split into three questions. A second question was modified to ask if the member sustained the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve as prophets, seers, and revelators. The question about wearing the garments was qualified, added a clause about wearing them as instructed in the temple.
- In 1999, a simplified question about financial obligations was asked of all members, not just divorced members.
- In 2012, the question about wearing the garments was slightly modified to clarify that the garments should not be worn separately.
- In October 2019’s general conference, church presidentRussell M. Nelson announced revisions to the temple recommend questions. In addition to some clarifications and streamlining, the question about the law of chastity now includes “striving for moral cleanliness” in thoughts and behavior. The question about attending church meetings was expanded to include a more general question about Sabbath observance.
Proxy Sealings To Spouse And To Parents
Proxy sealings for this time period are restricted, because living and proxy ordinances are mixed together. These microfilms contain family group record forms and are difficult to use.
If someone on the sheet was alive. The ordinance records are usually arranged by date of the ordinances. You may have to search the ordinance records name by name.
If everyone on the sheet was dead. For proxy ordinances where everyone on the sheet was dead, use the sheets in the Archive Section instead. The archive sheets have the same information , and are arranged alphabetically by the fathers name. Rubber stamped dates are considered valid. Below is a chronological list of temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with sortable columns. In the LDS Church, a temple is a building dedicated to be a House of the Lord, and considered by church members to be the most sacred structures on earth. Only in the temple can we receive the ordinances needed to be exalted in the celestial kingdom. Temple ordinances, including the endowment, lead to the greatest blessings offered through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. These ordinances help us focus on the Savior, His role in our Heavenly Fathers plan, and our commitment to follow Him.
Receiving your temple endowment can be one of the most sacred events of your life. Preparing for it will make it more meaningful and powerful. Many members of the Church receive their endowment before a mission or marriage. Others simply have a strong desire to move forward along the covenant path. Either way, its important to know that your endowment is more than just another step its an essential and glorious part of your eternal journey.

Who Decides Where To Build New Temples
The Prophet and President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, currently Russell M. Nelson, makes announcements regarding when and where new temples will be built. He makes those decisions based on many factors. These include how many members of the Church live in a certain area, how far they have to travel to get to other temples and most importantly, he relies on revelation from God to let him know where new temples are needed.
Temple Construction All temples are houses of God and have Holiness to the Lord: The House of the Lord written over the entrance. Inside, all temples perform the same ceremonies and serve the same purposes. On the outside, however, most temples are unique. Some have similar architecture to others that were built in a similar time period, but most stand alone in their design. Temples are designed to be beautiful additions to whatever city they are in and often include a nod to local architecture or design.
Why does it matter? Temples are important to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because of the special ceremonies that are performed and promises that are made there. Having temples built in cities all over the world gives more members of the Church the opportunity to participate.

Social Events And Gatherings
Additional meetings are also held at the meetinghouse. Church officers may conduct leadership meetings or host training sessions and classes. The ward or branch community may schedule social activities at the meetinghouse, including dances, dinners, holiday parties and musical presentations. The churchs Young Men and Young Women organizations meet at the meetinghouse once a week, where the youth participate in activities. At the start of 2020, the church implemented a new initiative for children and youth worldwide, which replaced all other church youth programs.
In LDS theology, a temple is considered to be a holy building, dedicated as a House of the Lord and held as more sacred than a typical meetinghouse or chapel. In temples, church members participate in ceremonies that are considered the most sacred in the church, including marriage, and an endowment ceremony that includes a washing and anointing, receiving a temple garment, and making covenants with God. Baptisms for the dead are performed in the temples as well.
In order to perform ordinances in temples on behalf of deceased family members, the church emphasizes genealogical research, and encourages its lay members to participate in genealogy.It operates FamilySearch, the largest genealogical organization in the world.

Red Cliffs Utah Temple

President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to build a temple in Washington County, Utah, during the 188th Annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Oct. 7, 2018. On June 19, 2020, the First Presidency approved that the name of the Washington County Utah Temple be changed to the Red Cliffs Utah Temple.

Access To Temple Records
Most temple records are available to the public. For example, about 20 percent of temple records have no restrictions and can be used at the Family History Library and at Family History Centers.
About 80 percent of temple records are restricted, especially records that include information about living people. Restricted temple microfilms are housed in the Special Collections room in the Family History Library, on the 2nd floor , and do not circulate to Family History Centers. The hours for Special Collections are 9-11 a.m. and 1-5 p.m. Monday – Friday, closed Saturday and Holidays.
Restricted temple records can be used in Special Collections by Latter-day Saints with a current temple recommend . Also, members without a current recommend can bring a letter from their Bishop stating they are a member in good standing. They will also need to have a photo ID to enter Special Collections. Information from Special Collections records is not available by telephone, or through the mail. If you cannot visit Special Collections in person, you can ask a friend or relative with a temple recommend to visit special collections for you, or hire a professional researcher with a temple recommend.

Cosmology And Plan Of Salvation
The Mormon cosmology and plan of salvation include the doctrines of a pre-mortal life, an earthly mortal existence, three degrees of heaven, and exaltation.
According to these doctrines, every human spirit is a spiritual child of a Heavenly Father, and each has the potential to continue to learn, grow, and progress in the eternities, eventually achieving eternal life, which is to become one with God in the same way that Jesus Christ is one with the Father, thus allowing the children of God to become divine beings that is, gods themselves. This view on the doctrine of theosis is also referred to as becoming a joint-heir with Christ. The process by which this is accomplished is called exaltation, a doctrine which includes the reunification of the mortal family after the resurrection and the ability to have spirit children in the afterlife and inherit a portion of Gods kingdom. To obtain this state of godhood, the church teaches that one must have faith in Jesus Christ, repent of his or her sins, strive to keep the commandments faithfully, and participate in a sequence of ceremonial covenants called ordinances, which include baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, the endowment, and celestial marriage.
