Cleaning the Rapid Cappuccino System is a pain as one needs to be cleaned after every use. Meaning youd have to disassemble it and then clean each of its parts.
If you like the Nespresso capsule machine with a bigger capacity then this machine will not cut it, especially with its 4 oz. milk container.
The frother spits milk while its working. Though it happens occasionally. But still, this is something unusual and annoying. For those who like denser milk foam, this machine will not fit their criteria.
The Lattissimas Signature Rapid Cappuccino System
Unlike the Nespresso Creatista Pro and Plus which froth milk using a steam wand and a stainless steel jug, all Nespresso Lattissima models have milk container that attaches to the machine. With a press of a button it will prepare the milk for the type of drink you selected. It is programmed to add milk in the correct order either before or after brewing the espresso depending on the recipe. This functionality unique to the DeLonghi Nespresso Lattissima models is called the Rapid Cappuccino System. Its a bit of a misnomer since the Lattissima models can also make lattes, but it is quick and easy!
The Rapid Cappuccino System is removable on all Nespresso Lattissima models. If there is milk left in it, you can store it in the fridge for a couple of days. To clean it 2-3x a week, you will need to disassemble it. You can wash it by hand or in the top rack of your dishwasher.
Nespresso Lattissima One Review: A Truly One
The Nespresso Lattissima is one is for loves a milky caffeine treat, at the touch of a single button. It comes with 3 milk and coffee recipes. Lattes, Cappuccinos, or Espresso Macchiatos it doesnt matter, all are as simple as filling, frothing, and drinking. Fill up the milk jug with the preferred amount and the machine will do the frothing and disperse it into the cup. Even more, the jug has a detachable cap. So refill in between preparations are also possible.

What Is The Nespresso Lattissima Range
In the world of Nespresso, there are Original line models that make only espresso and Vertuo models that make both espresso and coffee. Among the Original line machines, there are more basic models like the Essenza Mini, Pixie, CitiZ and Inissia and then more advanced and premium models like the Creatista and Lattissima. The Creatista and Lattissima models have built in milk frothing capabilities so you can make lattes and cappuccinos with the push of a button. The basic models require you to buy an Aeroccino milk frother accessory to make these drinks. The Lattissima range is made by DeLonghi. The Creatista range is made by Breville. Both DeLonghi and Breville are Nespresso manufacturing partners and global leaders in small kitchen appliances.
There are currently five different Nespresso Lattissima machine models made by DeLonghi the Gran, Pro, Plus, Touch and One. As you will see in my Nespresso Lattissima comparison guide below, the Gran and Pro have some additional features that the other three dont. That is why they are more expensive.

Nespresso By Delonghi Lattissima One Review
This machine differs from some other Nespresso machines out there in that this one will also steam milk automatically and means you can make lattes, cappuccino, or espresso macchiato. It uses the Nespresso Original pods in the machine.
I got to spend a couple of weeks with the Nespresso by DeLonghi Lattissima One Ill tell you about my experience with it, what it can do, how it works and the pros and cons after having it in my home for a week.
A Note About Dairy Allergies
If you have dairy allergies, please note that DeLonghi says that the Rapid Cappuccino System is designed to work with cow milk. The results for other types of milk like oat, soy and almond cannot be guaranteed. If you have a dairy allergy, I think you may be better off with a Creatista Plus since you can have more control over the milk frothing and steaming.

Why You Should Buy It
The Nespresso Lattissima by Delonghi impresses almost everyone with its modern coffee machine aesthetic. Built-in milk frother, a 1-liter water reservoir, and 8 capsules container all in a compact-sized box-shape casing good enough to fit in tiny spaces.
This machine is a great combination of your value for the money, its rapid no waiting service, and its ability to fit in aesthetically well in various kitchen countertops. All of these factors are not easy to find in the vast market of espresso machines.
The water tanks flat design and its good attachment to the back is an efficient solution thats more practical. It can store 8 capsules which is an acceptable amount with its overall machine size, meaning you wont have to empty it frequently.
The height of the coffee outlet is okay for most tall glasses/mugs, and excellent for cups/small shot glasses. The cup support slides smoothly from one side to another. Its a fun, safe, and nifty thing from the Nespresso makers.
Overall Review: Nespresso By Delonghi Lattissima One
Overall theres some things I like about this machine and some major downsides.
Its small for a coffee and milk-capable device, I really like the white colour option and the modern, sleek design which helps it blend into my kitchen better. I also love the huge one litre tank.
The espresso it makes is delicious, hot, thick and with a beautiful crema, and I love that I can customize the sizes so its perfect for me.
If there are any downsizes to this machine, for some it might be that you cant adjust the water temperature, but for me this was not an issue. For me the biggest downside is the lacklustre milk heating and foaming. If you drink cappuccino you arent getting them from this machine there is really no foam to speak of. Youre really just getting different amounts of warm milk.
If you want a top quality espresso machine, this works, but the high cost of adding the milk system which doesnt perform means I dont recommend this machine. Instead Id choose the Nespresso Pixie or Essenza Mini you can see both those reviews here on the channel.

What To Know About Nespresso Pods: Environmental Impact And Cost
Ive talked in other reviews about the environmental impact of coffee pods so Ill just recap quickly here. Nespresso has a pod recycling program and even pays the shipping. Pods cost about 70 cents to a dollar per pod which I find reasonable given coffee shop prices.
When it comes to the coffees and their taste, theres lots to enjoy. I find the coffees, packaged in their little cups to be fresh, and with the huge number of different roasts, tastes, flavours and options, youre certain to find some you love. Bottom line here, the coffee is good.
Nespresso Lattissima One Overview
Nespresso has two lines of capsule-based espresso machines:
- OriginalLine: Their original line that used a 19 bar pump to extract shots from capsules
- VertuoLine: Their new line that uses Centrifusion to extract shots from barcode-enabled capsules but also brews standard coffee up to 17 oz
For our money, OriginalLine machines are better than VertuoLine machines because their pump produces more authentic espresso, the coffee tends to be hotter, and there’s no barcode scanning system meaning you can find less-expensive third-party capsules.
And among OriginalLine machines, there are 2 series that stand above all others:
- Lattissima machines with integrated frothers that brew specialty beverages with the push of a single button
- Creatista machines with integrated frothing wands for a more manual frothing experience, as if you were a true barista

Other features worth making note of theres automatic shut off to save energy, and the water tank holds more than enough water for 17 doubles before it needs to be refilled , you can use the cup riser or remove it to brew a bigger cup, and the pod bin holds about 10 discarded pods. All the pieces are washable.

Brewing an espresso is as simple as turning the machine on and waiting for it to heat up, which takes less than 20 seconds. Im impressed with how fast this is. If youre heating up milk for your morning up, that takes about another 15 seconds and well get to the milk-based drinks in just a sec

My single shot brews in about 15 seconds and the double in about 25.
One of the things I like about the Nespresso machines is that the espresso comes out nice and thick, its not watery. It ends up with a nice crema on top, and its actually good and hot, definitely hot enough for me.

If you are looking for a Nespresso machine that can easily make you a cappuccino or latte, then a Lattissima might be a great option for you. However, there are five models that you can currently find for sale. Which one should you get? It will depend on which features matter most to you. Given that the price points are similar, it is worth understanding the differences to see which one you may prefer. The Creatista Plus and Pro can both make cappuccinos, lattes, latte macchiatos and flat whites. Only the Gran Lattissima has all of those options.
I personally find the design of the Creatista Pro and Plus more appealing than the Lattissima. The Creatistas stainless steel finished looks very sleek on a kitchen counter. I also like the manual control I can get with the Creatistas steam wand. Like the Rapid Cappuccino System, the steam wand is very easy to use but it also gives you the option to try latte art. The Lattissima Rapid Cappuccino System doesnt create the type of microfoam needed for latte art. I also find it easier to clean the Creatistas steam wand and milk jug compared to disassembling and cleaning the Lattissima Rapid Cappuccino System.

Lets take a quick tour of the machine theres a big 1L or 34 oz, low profile water tank in the back. Around front theres a moveable riser and drip tray, pod receptacle in behind. The milk cup is removable. Out of the box, this machine will brew a 1.3 ounce single shot or a nearly 4 ounce luongo.

As I noted up front, this machine will make only three milk based drinks: lattes, cappuccino, or espresso macchiato. It also wont work with alt milks and is only designed to work with cows milk.
The milk container is labelled and will show you how much milk to add for each drink you have to add the right amount manually and it will use all the milk in the jug so its up to you to measure correctly.
